Our main goal here at Yesability Community Services is to help you find a home you feel comfortable in, and match you with a team of Support Workers who’ll inspire you to great things.

When you feel at home and everything falls into place,
That’s what we aim for with all of our clients, and Supported Independent Living is the key to making it happen.
WHAT IS SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING?
- Supported independent living at Yesability Community Services is one type of support to help you live in your home.
- It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills.
- Supported independent living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time.
- Supported independent living at YCS is best suited to people with a disability who have higher support needs.
- This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support.
- You can get supported independent living if you live with other NDIS participants. You can also get supported independent living if you live on your own, but there might be other home and living supports that suit you better.
- Supported independent living funding can’t be used for things like rent or other day-to- day expenses like groceries.
You can live on your own, or in a shared home with flatmates who have similar needs, and we can help arrange all of this for you too.
SO, WHAT’S INCLUDED IN SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING (SIL)?
At Yesability Community Services, we like to think of it as the basics that you need for every-day life, and a range of other elements that help you learn, grow and build new skills, leading to even greater independence.
HELP LIVING YOUR DAILY LIFE THROUGH YCS:
- Support with everyday tasks and activities
- Assistance with your own personal care needs
- Help and arrangement of travel and transport
- High Intensity Support & Complex Care
- Administration of medication, and support for medical appointments
- Help with household chores from cleaning, to laundry and getting dinner ready
HELP LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE THROUGH YCS:
- Empowering you to achieve your goals and set new ones
- Assistance with visiting friends and family
- Help with any behaviour support plans you may have
- Support with community activities such as outings, groups or classes
- Help developing your social skills, and coming out of your shell
- Assistance with capacity building tasks, making you even more independent
